Catch the Moment - 365

If you're reading this right now, you have probably seen a good sampling of the photos I've posted on the blog.

They're - well, you know - photos.

We purchased a fancy DSLR camera a year or two ago to capture our kids without the blurriness of my old camera or my iPhone, and we've used it in random smatterings for some of the important stuff.  I haven't really learned all that well how to actually use it, nor have I made it a habit to actually reach for my camera on a daily basis.

There are many events in which I completely forget to even bring the camera with us - like this past Christmas holiday in my hometown with my family.  Yep, that was a #momfail.  At least DH made me feel a little better about my mistake when he accidentally didn't actually record the opening of presents like he thought he had.

But, basically, I talk a big game about wanting to remember every single little moment - and then I never capture them in a way that lasts outside of my head.

This year?  I'm doing something different.

Each week on Fridays, I'm joining in with a few of my lovely blogging friends {Sarah @ Nurse Loves Farmer, Mindi @ Simply Stavish, & Stephanie @ Behind the Camera & Dreaming} for their Catch the Moment 365 Link Up.  If you haven't heard of the link up previously, the goal is to take one photo for every day of the year.  It not only chronicles your year in photos, but it also will help to buff up my photography skills just a tad - because I need that.

Here are a few of my goals for the year:

- Try to take one photo per day.
- Try to use a real camera to do so.
- Link up those photos once per week.
- Expand the use of my camera {I'd like to be shooting in manual by the end of the year}
- Take at least one photo per week {or have DH take the photo} with me in it.
- Take at least one photo per month of our whole family.
- At some point during the year, purchase a remote control for the camera to make taking the above photos easier.  {I think these are only like thirty some dollars - this may work?}

If you're interested in participating, you can join up at any time - check out Sarah's post here or the image below for more details!
