Smart Bottoms AIO Cloth Diaper and Cloth Trainer Review and Giveaway!

{For all other freebies up for grabs during TNO's Week of Giveaways - check out my post here!}

*Disclosure:  I was provided products for review but it did not color or sway my opinions on these products.  All opinions are honest and 100% my own!

During my time up in Chicago a few weeks ago, I was able to attend an amazing event for eco-friendly bloggers.  The EcoFab50 party was hosted by Bert at First Time Mom & Julie at Cloth Diaper Geek.  The second I walked into the EcoFab50 event, I knew I'd found my people.  It was hosted in a yoga studio with a henna tattoo artist and eco-friendly products galore.

And really amazing cookies.

Annnyway.  While I was there, I had the opportunity to chat it up with and awesome husband and wife team who'd started their own cloth diaper brand, Smart Bottoms.  You all know I'm a big fan of homegrown small businesses, and the Malones of Smart Bottoms are just that - even making sure that their products are 100% sourced and made in the United States.  At the end of the party, I was lucky enough to leave with a Smart One 3.0 All-In-One {AIO} cloth diaper for Little Lady & a Lil Trainer diaper for Little Man.

Before even putting them on the kids, I was already extremely pleased at the look and design of the diapers.  The AIO diaper and Lil Trainer are made of 100% organic cotton. As most of you know, we've had some trouble with rashes in our household, and were at one point wondering if destashing and switching to natural fibers would help us out - and these were just the types of diapers for which I'd been searching.

And the prints.  Seriously guys, how cute are these!

Let's start with the trainer, as seen above in the dinosaur print.

Little Man {2.5 years old, 30 lbs} has worn these several times just like undies around the house during the day time.  Since he is potty trained for all awake times, he hasn't had any accidents in his "dinosaur pants" - as he calls them.  We haven't used these for nighttime or naps yet, because as I mentioned I just don't quite think he is ready for being potty trained yet for sleep.  When he is, though, I think the Lil Trainer is going to be a fantastic option for us as he knows cloth diapers are for going in, as well as he now thinks Pull-Ups are for going in as well, due to a few failed attempts there.  The Lil Trainer actually looks and feels much closer to real underwear than a Pull-Up, so I'm hoping that soon these trainers help us to make the switch successfully to waking up dry.

* Just a note - the Lil Trainers are not meant to hold excess amounts.  As a trainer, they are made to hold one accident and then be changed after, like you would underwear - only with a trainer that has a bit more padding hopefully it is only that item you're changing and cleaning! :)

Now onto my resident baby-in-diapers, Little Lady. {7 months old, 18 lbs}

As for the AIO, I'm smitten.  Because it is an All-In-One diaper, both the inner absorbent layer and outer waterproof layer are attached, so there is no cover needed over the diaper nor are there any inserts to snap in or stuff in the diaper.  The way the Smart One diaper is constructed {both with the organic cotton materials as well as the wide elastics used} create an extremely soft yet absorbent diaper with a really trim fit.  As compared to some of our other cloth diapers, the Smart One AIO was a much less obtrusive diaper, which I love when I'm putting Little Lady in leggings or jeggings.

The one long organic cotton insert is able to be adjusted whether you need more material up front for a boy or more material a bit lower for a girl, and dries so fast based on the design of only being attached in one place.  Of note, there are four rise settings on the Smart One diaper, which is one extra level than I'm accustomed to, and a really nice option to have!  The diaper is meant to fit babies 8-35 lbs, and it did fit well on both Little Man {when tried on - no actual wetting happened} and Little Lady {for daily use}.

* For reference, both of my babes are not thin-legged little ones, so I can only vouch for it's use on slightly thicker thighs.

For daytime use, we have had no leaks or absorbency issues either during Little Lady's awake time or during her daytime naps.  I've not used the diaper at night as we use a separate nighttime diapering system.  However, I did find that when playing around with the diaper - it was somewhat difficult to stuff with the rectangular {non Smart Bottoms brand} hemp inserts we had laying around the house.  Smart Bottoms does make both organic cotton and hemp inserts/boosters specifically for their diapers to add extra absorbency, and I'd be interested to see how much you can up your absorbency with those additions.  {Smart Bottoms does also make a waist extender for their AIO, in case you have a slightly larger little one!}

While chatting with Christy of Smart Bottoms after using their diapers for a few weeks, I expressed my feelings about their products in one simple statement:  I wish I had known about their products when I started cloth diapering, because I would have made up my stash out of these diapers from the get-go.  All natural fibers, innovative design, adorable prints?  These diapers have it all.

And we want you to have some, too!

So the Malones of Smart Bottoms and I are giving away one Smart One AIO and one Lil Trainer!  Enter via Rafflecopter below and message me with any questions at thenaptownorganizer at gmail.com!
