If you've been around the blog at all since I started writing, you're probably very familiar with Comfy Joey Ring Slings. It's no secret- they are my favorite ring sling- and I want to talk a little more about why that is.
When I began babywearing, the thought of a sling or a wrap scared the heck out of me.
I needed something structured with snaps and fasteners- something I was sure wouldn't fall off. Or something with enough fabric to wrap up little man that I wouldn't be afraid he'd fall out.
I began using wraps and soft structured carriers, but when little man was a few months old, I wanted to try something new. I began looking online at different types of carriers, and I found a ton of different "FREE" slings. However, with a little more research, those free slings didn't seem too appealing to me. Most of the slings I was finding were pouch or bag slings, and seemed to come with warnings and safety recalls. While I know experienced babywearers can safely use a pouch sling, I wasn't at that point, so I steered clear.
Which led me to finding Comfy Joey's online site.
Not only was I completely enamored by their beautiful slings, I also LOVED how in depth and in detail they actually explain wearing your baby in a sling. There are notes on safety and proper use of the sling, like any other babywearing product, but you can actually find information on site about what the parts of the sling are called, how to properly thread the sling through the rings, and a whole bunch more really useful tidbits.
I began my babywearing ring sling journey with this gorgeous Maui Sea Glass Linen Sling from Comfy Joey, and it has been my quick go-to ever since. (To my friends who haven't yet asked- yes, this is the carrier you see me wearing all.the.time, especially with little lady now!)
Recently, though, Ayesha at Comfy Joey asked me to review a Toddler Width Silk Ring Sling, which was completely new to me. I've never used a silk sling before, and was wondering somewhat at how supportive or comfortable the fabric would be as opposed to the strong but soft linen we were used to wearing. Here are some pictures of the Silk Ring Sling below on some recent errands, in the Providence pattern:

It's really pretty, right? I love the fact that it's neutral and an understated print- DH even noticed that it matched perfectly with my coat!
One of the reasons I love this (and my other) CJ ring sling is that it gives you the feel of wrapping your child without the actual work of doing the wrapping. I've mentioned before that I love a beautiful wrap (and have several), but sometimes I just need a quicker carrier. Like now- in the 15 degree weather and cold winds- when we're trying to get two babies in and out of the car. With my CJ Ring Slings, I get that same feel but literally spend seconds putting either child in and adjusting them. Once you get accustomed to the sling, it is so easy and simple.
The toddler width silk sling turned out to be an excellent fabric choice and construction in my opinion, even despite my initial concerns. It is easy to adjust and really comfortable to wear. I'm not a huge fan of padding in the shoulder of a ring sling, so I don't have padding in either this or my linen CJ sling. The new CJ Hybrid Shoulder in the Toddler Width was extremely comfortable and gained the effect of padding- without actually adding the padding at all. I'm able to spread the shoulder further out for more comfort when I'm not reaching for too many things, or scrunch it up a little more when I'm needing frequent use of both hands to tend to the babes.
With either my one month old or my almost two year old, Comfy Joey slings are a for sure go-to in our household. And- because I love them so much- Ayesha at CJ and I want to get you your own sling!
I've included a Rafflecopter below for entry into a fabulous giveaway - a $75 voucher toward anything for sale on the site! How amazing is that?!?!
